City of Blue Springs announces Christine Cates as new City Administrator

 

BLUE SPRINGS, MO. – The Blue Springs City Council enthusiastically confirmed Mayor Carson Ross appointment of Christine Cates as City Administrator.

 

Christine Cates joined the City in July 2002 as the Director of Finance and was promoted to Assistant City Administrator – Finance and Administrative Services in June 2011. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Missouri – Columbia and a Masters in Business Administration from Ottawa University. 

Christine is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a Certified Public Finance Officer.

 

“Her open-door approach and willingness to listen have fostered an environment of trust and cooperation within city administration. Christine Cates is a prominent figure in the realm of municipal administration, renowned for her forward-thinking strategies and influential contributions as a Deputy City Administrator, said Mayor Carson Ross.”

 

Her educational foundation equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by modern cities, spurring her interest in making a tangible difference. Rising through the ranks, Cates took on roles of increasing responsibility in city governance, which paved the way for her eventual position as City Administrator.

 

She encourages collaborative decision-making, involving city staff and leadership. Her open-door approach and willingness to listen have fostered an environment of trust and cooperation within city administration. Cates' leadership extends beyond traditional administrative roles, as she actively engages with the employees and City Council to understand their needs and aspirations.
