Blue Springs Parks and Recreation, along with the City of Blue Springs, is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Blue Springs waterpark at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 on the field just to the west of the Fieldhouse at 425 N.E. Mock Ave. The waterpark is scheduled to open Spring of 2024 with construction slated to begin in early December.
The groundbreaking ceremony will feature the unveiling of the new name and logo for the facility, as well as a few other surprises. Blue Springs Mayor Carson Ross, along with other City officials, will speak at the event.
“We are excited to bring a waterpark to Blue Springs with so many state-of-the-art features like a surf simulator, indoor splash pad, NinjaCross Course and a stand-up slide,” Dennis Dovel, Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Director said. “With an expected opening of May 2024, we can’t wait to get started on the construction of this project.”
The public is encouraged to attend and will be able to register to win summer passes to the waterpark, cabana rentals and more.
“This event is the culmination of two years of planning, research and design to present an extremely high-quality, yet budget-conscious indoor/outdoor waterpark to the Blue Springs community and surrounding areas,” Dovel said. “A special thank you goes out to our partners SFS Architecture, Stantec, Water Technology Inc. and McCown Gordon. Without their leadership and guidance, we would not be able to bring this waterpark to the community.”
The water park is funded through the no-sunset Parks Sales Tax approved by voters in April 2021.
