[ARCHIVED] Mayor Carson Ross Hosts Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 30

The Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony 2019

Join Mayor Carson Ross and the City of Blue Springs as we kick off the holiday season with the 2021 Annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on Tuesday, November 30. This free, family holiday event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will take place outside City Hall at 903 W. Main Street in downtown Blue Springs, Mo.

“Bringing our City together to light the Christmas Tree is always one of my favorite events of the year,” said Mayor Carson Ross. “It’s a wonderful tradition in our community and I am thrilled to be bringing it back in person to City Hall this year. 2020 was a difficult year for all of us, and this event is always a symbol of joy and hope for the community as we kick-off the holiday season for 2021.”

Pete Grigsby, KMBC Channel 9 Meteorologist and Blue Springs School District instructor, will join Mayor Ross as Master of Ceremonies and entertainment will be provided by choirs from Daniel Young Elementary, James Walker Elementary and William Yates Elementary. Mayor Ross and special guests will begin the countdown to “flip the switch” to light the tree and City Hall at approximately 7:15 p.m. Once the lights are on, Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive and be ready to hear the Christmas wishes of all the boys and girls.

Complementary hot dogs and cookies donated by Blue Springs Price Chopper. Craft activities for children will be located inside City Hall, provided by the Blue Springs City Theater.

Special thanks to: Cosentino’s Price Chopper, Blue Springs Parks & Recreation Department, Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce, Blue Springs Downtown Alive!, Three Pigs Barbeque, Chuck Johnston, Councilmember Jerry Kaylor and the Blue Springs VIPS For more information about this year’s lighting event, call (816) 228-0111.
