[ARCHIVED] Mayor Carson Ross Hosts Annual Christmas Lighting Tree Ceremony on Dec. 3

Blue Springs, Mo. – Join Mayor Carson Ross and the City of Blue Springs as we kick off the holiday season with the 2019 Annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on Tuesday, December 3. This free, family holiday event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will take place outside City Hall at 903 W. Main Street in downtown Blue Springs, Mo.

“Bringing our City together to light the Christmas Tree is always one of my favorite events of the year,” said Mayor Carson Ross. “It’s a wonderful tradition in our community and I am thrilled to be bringing it back to City Hall this year.”

Pete Grigsby, KMBC Channel 9 Meteorologist and Blue Springs School District instructor, will join Mayor Ross as Master of Ceremonies and entertainment will be provided by choirs from Chapel Lakes Elementary School, Lucy Franklin Elementary School and William Bryant Elementary School. Mayor Ross and special guests will begin the countdown to “flip the switch” to light the tree and City Hall at approximately 6:15 p.m., with fireworks immediately following to mark this joyous occasion.  Once the lights are on, Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive and be ready to hear the Christmas wishes of all the boys and girls.

Complementary hot dogs and chips donated by Blue Springs HyVee, cookies and hot chocolate donated by Cosentino’s Price Chopper, and popcorn donated Miller 8 Theatre will be available.  Craft activities for children will be located inside City Hall.
