[ARCHIVED] Help Needed to Identify a Person of Interest in Racially-Charged Property Damage Case

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Blue Springs Police Department is requesting help from the public to identify a person of interest in a racially-charged property damage case at Turn-N-Headz Barber Shop located at 802 Highway 40, Blue Springs, Mo.

“There is someone out there that knows something and I call on them to step forward and say something,” said Mayor Carson Ross.  “This manifestation of racial hatred is a cowardly act.  Although it has been rare in the 43 years my family has lived in Blue Springs – no community is exempt from ill-willed people doing unacceptable things.  It is not welcome in Blue Springs and we will meet it head on.”

Blue Springs Police Department responded to a property damage call on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.  Upon arrival, officers discovered racially-charged messages spray painted on the windows of Turn-N-Headz Barber Shop.

“We are asking for people to look at video and still images and let us know if they recognize this person of interest or if they have heard anything about this crime,” said Blue Springs Police Department Lieutenant Kingsolver. “The images we received off a neighboring surveillance camera are not conclusive – without help, the assailant in this crime cannot be brought to justice.”

Surveillance video was received by the Blue Springs Police Department this morning and images have been captured in an attempt to identify this person of interest.  The Blue Springs Police Department is actively investigating this property crime and asks if you know something related to this crime, please call 816-228-0151 or report your tip anonymously through the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
