BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – On Sunday, April 9, from Noon to 4 p.m. at the Blue Springs High School, 2000 NW Ashton Drive, Blue Springs Police Department Officer Keegan Hughes will run a full marathon in police uniform to raise funds for Independence Police Officer Tom Wagstaff. The event will consist of running 105 laps (26.2 miles) around the Blue Springs High School track and all funds will go to Officer Wagstaff’s Answering the Call fund at the Greater KC Public Safety Credit Union.
Independence Police Officer Tom Wagstaff was critically wounded while answering a call for service. Officer Wagstaff is a 15-year veteran of the Independence Police Department and a devoted husband, father, friend and community servant.
This event is open to the public and will feature music and refreshments from Cosentino’s Price Chopper with all profits going to Officer Wagstaff’s Answering the Call fund. Financial donations for Officer Wagstaff’s Answering the Call Fund will be accepted during the event. The fund is a 501(c)3 charity and all donations are tax deductible and his family will receive 100% off all money donated.
Blue Springs Police Officers participating in this event are volunteering their time to honor their fellow officer in service.
