Blue Springs, Mo. – The Blue Springs Fieldhouse is celebrating their anniversary by hosting a free two-day community celebration. The celebration will begin on Friday, September 30 from 2-6 p.m. and will continue on Saturday, October 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Blue Springs Fieldhouse located at 425 NE Mock Avenue.
“We are excited to celebrate the Blue Springs Fieldhouse and its first year of service to the Blue Springs community as well as the Eastern Jackson County area,” said Mayor Carson Ross. “Our facility offers a variety of leisure and active recreational opportunities for community members of all fitness levels to enjoy and we will continue to provide new fitness and recreation options that address the needs of our growing membership and the community.”
The two-day event will offer refreshments, craft activities for kids, free instructor-led classes, a bounce house and a health & wellness fair where attendees can speak to health professionals for free services and advice. There will be raffles for prize packages including a grand prize worth more than $1,000; the winner of the grand prize will be selected on Monday, October 3. Event guests will receive a special gift as a token of appreciation for the continued support of the Blue Springs community.
The celebration continues on Saturday with a 5k run/walk from 8-10 a.m. (registration fee required) and a community blood drive throughout the day.
The Blue Springs Fieldhouse was designed to offer fitness and recreational opportunities for all within its 76,000-square-feet of indoor space. Since opening in 2015, the Fieldhouse has received various recognitions including: the 2015 Indoor Recreation Project of the Year for North America presented by Tarkett Sports, the
2016 Capstone Award in Community Impact from the Kansas City Business Journal; a feature in the Athletic Business Journal in the Architectural Showcase Edition and the 2016 Missouri Municipal League Innovation Award.
Some features of the facility include: four, hard-surfaced courts that can be used for basketball, volleyball or pickleball; two walking trails, one hard-surfaced and the other artificial; a new artificial turf field for indoor soccer or sports training. The fitness center is a state-of-the-art area measuring 6,500-square-feet and will offer a variety of cardio machines, weight equipment and access to free Wi-Fi. Each piece of equipment is integrated with the latest technology to help users reach, track and maintain their fitness goals.
