[ARCHIVED] Dr. Oliver De Grate III Bridge Dedication Ceremony

Blue Springs, Mo. – On Monday, November 30 at 2 p.m., the De Grate family, City of Blue Springs and MoDOT will host a ceremony to rename and dedicate the diverging diamond bridge at the intersection of Woods Chapel Road and I-70 in memory of the late Public Works Director Dr. Oliver De Grate III. The dedication ceremony will overlook the diverging diamond interchange from the parking lot of the former Pizza Hut located at 1512 Woods Chapel Road, Blue Springs, Mo. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in the Municipal Annex, 1304 W. Main Street.

“Dr. Oliver De Grate provided leadership and oversight for many of the city’s major infrastructure projects including Adams Dairy Parkway, Sni-A-Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant, Chapman Farms Neighborhood Improvement District, and most notably the Woods Chapel Road Corridor Improvements,” said Mayor Carson Ross. “We are honored to dedicate this bridge in recognition of Oliver’s commitment to improving the quality of life in Blue Springs.”

Dr. Oliver De Grate III, a native of Manhattan, Kansas passed away on September 14, 2012. He was known as a leader in the professional engineering community. Dr. De Grate was a key member of the city’s management team, and a licensed professional engineer with nearly 40 years of experience in city government.
