BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Blue Springs Police Department and members of the Blue Springs Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association will participate in Target’s Heroes & Helper’s Event at 7 a.m. on Saturday, December 14. The Blue Springs Target Store located at 1040 NE Coronado, will host children from the “Shop with a Blue Springs Cop” program as they purchase holiday gifts for their families.
Thirty Blue Springs Police Department officers will volunteer their time by spending it with thirty students from Blue Springs School District. This program allows disadvantaged children to shop with an officer and purchase $125 worth of holiday gifts for their families.
The “Shop with a Blue Springs Cop” program is an opportunity for children to socialize with officers in a positive atmosphere and reinforce the fact that police officers are friends in the community.
“This is the fourth year that we have been able to do this event and we are amazed by the community support for the program here in Blue Springs. These types of events help build relationships between area kids and police officers,” said Officer David Brotherton of the Blue Springs Police Department. “It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to help make sure these children and their families have a great Christmas this year.”
Following the shopping event, participants will join officers at the Adams Dairy Pointe Conference Center for a gift wrapping session and lunch with the officers.
This year’s event is sponsored by: Target, Rancho Grande Cantina, Cosentino’s Price Chopper, Missouri Mavericks, 3 Suns Cruise and Tours, Accessorize Yourself, Ad Trends, Inc., Advanced Auto Parts, All Star, Autozone, Barbara Stark, Beckie Becker by Sweet Lil Sis, Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce, Blue Springs Ford, Blue Springs Landlord Group, Blue Springs LEADership Class, Blue Springs Police Department, Blue Springs School District, Blue Springs Service Center, The Cake Pan, Blue Springs Chick-fil-A, Chuck Zuvers, Cindy Hood, City of Blue Springs, Club 7 Fitness LLC, Courtyard by Marriott, Cristin Walters, DIGI Print, Doug Farquar, Fike Corporation, Fosters Cleaners, Gemaco, Godfathers Pizza, Intimate Boutique, Janelle Dozar Scentsy Consultant, Kansas City Royals, KC Metro Chapter Women's Council of Realtors, Kennedy's Jewelers, Kylee Angell 31 Consultant, LaMars Donuts, Las Playas, Lunar Bowl, Marksman Firearms, Blue Springs McDonalds, Memories on Main Street, Mike Martin Financial Group, Mirror Image Carwash, Missouri Lottery, Missouri Peace Officer Association, Moreland Ridge Middle School, Mr Goodcents, Operation Thermal Reunion, Paradise Park, Print Graphics, Rink Ratz, Roses and Such Distribution, Ross Miller, Salon Ballizo, Santa, Starlight Theatre, Stewart Title, Tammy's Treasures, Terri Weathers Sentsy Consultant, Texas Roadhouse, The Sweet Tooth, Thin Line Shooting Academy, Village Gardens, Visual Concepts LLC, and Zardas.
