[ARCHIVED] Blue Springs Police Conduct Underage Drinking Enforcement Operation

Blue Springs, Mo. – In a continuing effort to help prevent underage drinking in our community, the Blue Springs Police Department conducts underage drinking enforcement business checks.

On December 14, 2011, between the hours of 5-7:30 p.m., members of the Blue Springs, Missouri Police Department enlisted an 18-year-old male in the attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages from seventeen businesses that have liquor licenses with the City of Blue Springs. The volunteer was instructed to provide the business with his actual Missouri driver’s license and to be honest with employees if asked about his age.

Employees from all seventeen area businesses asked for identification when the 18-year-old underage male attempted to purchase the alcoholic beverages. This business check resulted in a 100 percent compliance rate under Blue Springs, Missouri Municipal Code ordinance 600.200, which states that no person shall sell or supply intoxicating liquor, or permit the same to be sold or supplied to any person under the age of 21 years of age.

The Blue Springs Police Department wants to commend the following businesses for the diligent effort to curb underage drinking in our community:
