BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Blue Springs Police Department and Members of the Blue Springs Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association will participate in “Shop with a Blue Springs Cop” at 7 a.m., Saturday, December 18, at the Target Store in the Adams Dairy Landing shopping center, 1040 NE Coronado, Blue Springs, MO.
Twenty Blue Springs Police Department officers will volunteer their time by spending it with twenty students from Blue Springs area schools. This program allows disadvantaged children to shop with an officer and purchase $100 worth of holiday gifts for their families.
The “Shop with a Blue Springs Cop” program is an opportunity for children to socialize with officers in a positive atmosphere and reinforce the fact that police officers are friends in the community.
“This is the first year that we have done this event and we are excited to be able to do it here in Blue Springs. These types of events help build relationships between area kids and police officers,” said Officer David Brotherton of the Blue Springs Police Department. “It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to help make sure these children and their families have a great Christmas this year.”
Following the shopping event, participants will join officers at the Adams Dairy Pointe Conference Center for a gift wrapping session and K-9 demonstration followed by lunch.
This event is sponsored by: Target, Adams Pointe Conference, Adams Pointe Golf, Advanced Auto Parts, All Star Trophy, Auto Zone, Belfonte Ice Cream, Blue Springs Animal Hospital, Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce, Blue Springs Service Center, Inc., Bob Evans, Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting, City of Blue Springs Police Department, Clearlakes Insurance Agency, LLC, Chuck Zuvers, Colonial Hills Community of Christ, Cosentino’s Price Chopper, Doug Scheweidart, Fletcher’s J Bar S Western Store, Fun House Pizza, Northern Lights Pizza, Hy-Vee, Kennedy’s Jewelers, Kwik Kopy, LaMar’s Donuts, Lunar Bowl, Memories on Main Tea Room and Café, Missouri Mavericks, Minsky’s Pizza, Nina’s Hair Design, Olive Garden, Roma Bakery, Salon Bellezzio, Boy Scout Troop #692, Scrapbook Workshoppe, Special Events on Main Street, Therapeutic Massage & Bodyworks, Vesper Hall, Village Gardens, Zingz Art and Homemade Gourmet.
