Through the coordination of the CJCEMA, a majority of Blue Springs city staff have completed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Incident Management System training. This system ensures that all levels of government, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector work seamlessly to oversee a major disaster or complicated situation.

Community Emergency Response Team Program

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our area.

This program trains participants in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

If you are interested in participating in the CERT program or would like more information, please contact Sergeant Allen Kintz at 816-228-0178.
