1. What information is necessary to renew or replace a driver’s license or photo ID?

License Renewals
Driver's Licenses can be renewed as early as six months prior to expiration. To renew your driver's license, you will need to provide:

Proof of Lawful Presence

Proof of Identity

Replacement for Lost/Stolen License
To obtain a replacement for a lost/stolen license, you will need to bring one form of identity.

License Costs

The cost for obtaining a drivers permit is $3.50

The cost for renewing or obtaining other licenses varies, depending on the class of license, and ranges from $10-20 for a regular driver's license, $35-45 for a Class E, and from $45-95 for a CDL (depending on the level of testing needed).

3. What information is necessary to renew my vehicle registration?

To renew your license plates you must submit your renewal notice or an old registration, the last two years of paid personal property tax receipts, a current insurance certificate on the vehicle showing an effective period in which includes today's date, and a current safety inspection not more than 60 days old if applicable. The State of Missouri passed a new law January 1, 2010 exempting all vehicles five years old from the manufactured year of the vehicle from having an inspection. If your vehicle is older than five years from the manufactured year, your vehicle will need an inspection if it's an even model vehicle expiring in an even year or odd model vehicle expiring in an odd year.

4. I didn’t receive my renewal form in the mail; how do I renew my registration?

If you didn’t receive your registration renewal form or have misplaced the form, you will be asked to provide your current registration. If you are not able to obtain your current registration, please provide your plate number and all additional documentation necessary to process the renewal.

5. What documents are required to gift a vehicle?

You will need the title, a gift statement (this includes a general statement that you are gifting the vehicle, who you are gifting it to, year, make and VIN#, date that the gift was made, and the signatures of the gifting party), current insurance card, current personal property tax receipt, and a current safety inspection not more than 60 days old if applicable. The State of Missouri passed a new law January 1, 2010 exempting all vehicles five years old from the manufactured year of the vehicle from having an inspection. If your vehicle is older than five years from the manufactured year, you will need a safety inspection.
