1. Whom do I contact about a streetlight that’s not working?

Residents can contact Kansas City Power & Light directly to report a street light that is not working by calling (816) 471-KCPL. Use option 3 and stay on the line for an operator.

2. How do I obtain traffic information?

Traffic counts for 7 Highway and 40 Highway are available from the
Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), (816) 622-6500.

For other Blue Springs streets traffic count requests contact the Public Works Engineering Department, (816) 228-0121.

3. Whom do I contact about problems with traffic signals?

Traffic signals on 7 Highway, 40 Highway and at Woods Chapel/I-70 overpass are controlled by Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), (816) 622-6500.

To report issues with City maintained traffic signals or signs please call the Street Department at (816) 228-0195.

4. Whom do I contact about problems with silt/mud coming on my property from construction sites?

Call the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) at (816) 622-7000 or visit their website as they are the permitting authority and enforcing agency for land disturbance and erosion control.

5. When do I need a street-cut permit?

A permit is required when any person cuts the curb and/or the street. The permit is obtained from the Engineering Department. The permit costs $250 with a $230 refund after City inspectors review the completed repair.

6. Whom do I contact regarding mortgage insurance requirements and/or floodplain information?
