Meet Dale! Dale has been with the City for 10 years and is the Kitchen Supervisor at Vesper Hall Senior Community Center. Dale and his crew prepare meals for seniors and shut-ins through the home-delivered meals program and the senior community at Vesper Hall.
Tell us a little about what you do each day.
We prepare food for more than 50 people to go out to seniors and shut-ins of many ages through our home-delivered meals program. We also serve lunch to our senior community here at Vesper Hall, serving from 50 to 150 congregates each day.
What is the best part of your job?
The people and co-workers I am blessed to interact with every day. Getting to see, learn, and share the many stories and experiences they’ve had. Seeing so many of the senior community face to face knowing I’ve made their day better with a good nutritious meal or put a smile on their face by letting them know that someone is interested in the lives they’ve lived.
Tell us about a time you felt proud to serve the residents of Blue Springs.
Really, there are too many to name. But a reoccurring compliment that always makes me proud is the “I’m 85 years old and that’s the best (insert menu item) I’ve ever had” comment is why I do what I do.
Tell us one interesting fact about yourself.
On June 18, 1977, I was 4 years old my mom couldn’t find a babysitter, so I had to go with her to Elvis’ last concert at Kemper arena. Not sure if that is interesting but it’s pretty cool even though I don’t remember any of it.
