The findings of the 2021 Blue Springs Citizen’s Satisfaction Survey, conducted in the fall of 2021, were presented to the Blue Springs City Council on March 7, 2022.

The survey was conducted by ETC Institute, headquartered in Olathe, Kan., which has been contracted by the City to conduct surveys for the last few decades. This survey was administered in Fall 2021 with 603 surveys being completed. The overall results of the survey have a precision of at least +/-4.0% at the 95% level of confidence.

The Citizen’s Survey aims to assess resident satisfaction with City services, measure trends from previous years, and offers a comparison of performance with other cities both regionally and nationally.

Results from the Citizen’s Survey are used by the City Council, Administration and Department Heads to set goals and priorities as part of the City’s ongoing planning processes.

The 2021 survey found that satisfaction with Blue Springs City services rated above the national average in several areas. Additionally, Sixty-six percent of respondents were satisfied with the overall quality of life in the City.

The highest satisfaction ratings for major categories of City services were:

  • Police services/protection (79%),
  • City parks and facilities (77%), and
  • City water/sewer utilities (69%).

Additionally, the areas that residents feel should receive the most emphasis from City leaders over the next two years are:

  • The overall maintenance of City streets and sidewalks,
  • The quality of police services/protection, and
  • Overall effectiveness of community planning.
