The City of Blue Springs and the Blue Springs School District have partnered to install and share more than 12 miles of closed fiber infrastructure to provide high speed and reliable data connectivity to most BSSD schools and facilities and multiple City of Blue Springs facilities and parks.

Working together, the City of Blue Springs and the Blue Springs School District identified a mutual need of fiber connectivity to all City and District facilities. By creating a specific plan for coverage that addresses the needs of both entities, both the Blue Springs School District and the City of Blue Springs will see a significant savings on installation and ongoing leasing costs.

The infrastructure was designed with a forward-thinking approach to accommodate current and future fiber needs for both entities and a potential for resource sharing with other area public entities.

“This is such an exciting partnership for the City and the School District,” said Mayor Carson Ross. “The joint fiber opens up a new realm of possibilities for data connectivity and technology.”

“This partnership is mutually beneficial to our students, staff, and community by providing a robust network capable of meeting future needs with substantial cost savings,” said Brandon Martin, Blue Springs School District Director of Technology.

This project does not incorporate residential fiber needs. The infrastructure and reliability needed for residential customers is better served by commercial providers.
