The City of Blue Springs is alerting motorists that the Moreland School Road closure will remain in place for several more days due to unforeseen issues and weather delays. The contractor has encountered rock and additional subgrade removals beyond the original scope of work, which has added to the completion time. Rains experienced on Tuesday, August 31 and the upcoming forecast for the weekend may cause an additional delay. The City will send out a notification once the roadway has been opened to all traffic. SW Moreland School Road, between SW 10th Street and SW Liggett Road, is closed for road reconstruction. A marked traffic detour will be in place directing motorists utilizing SW Clark Road, SW 7 Highway, and SW Liggett Road.
For both the safety of construction workers and drivers, we urge motorists to be cautious in work zones and watch for workers.
