“Secret Santa” Event
Blue Springs, MO – The Blue Springs Police Department will be hosting a “Secret Santa” event this year instead of the annual Shop with a Blue Springs Cop due to the COVID 19 restrictions. “Our goal here at the police department has remained the same, to help those families in our community that may be struggling”, says Sgt. Brandon Claxton.
There are around thirty families that members of the Blue Springs Police Departments and volunteers have adopted. With the Secret Santa program, we will be buying gifts for approximately 140 individuals.
The funds for this program were donated by officers, support staff, volunteers, and Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA). The CPAAA is donating the largest portion and is the normal funding source for annual the shop with a cop event.
Hygiene products and meals for all the families will be provided by Sandy’s Restaurant, here in Blue Springs.
A ‘gift wrapping’ event will be held at Sandy’s Restaurant on Monday December 7th, 2020 starting at 4:00PM. Sandy’s Restaurant will be closed to the public for the event, but members of media are welcome to attend. Sandy’s Restaurant is large enough to allow adequate space for social distancing as our volunteers wrap gifts.
Officers, support staff, and volunteers will deliver the gifts to the families on December 12, 2020 by going to their residence or by having them picked up from the banquet room at Sandy’s Restaurant. Media is welcome to attend on this date as well.
