The City of Blue Springs and the Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Department has developed a plan to re-open several parks facilities and amenities on June 1, 2020 as allowed by the Jackson County Health Department Recovery Plan.
“We are extremely excited to continue the re-opening of our City’s parks facilities,” said Mayor Carson Ross. “Parks and recreation are an important part of any thriving, healthy community and our residents have been patiently waiting to use our outdoor sports courts and fields. We are hopeful that soon we will be able to move into Phase 3 where we will see the re-opening of ALL our parks amenities and facilities.”
Highlights include:
- Opening of the tennis/pickleball, sand volleyball and outdoor basketball courts;
- Opening of the ballfields for practices and league games only (no tournaments); and
- Opening of park restrooms and shelter houses (50 person maximum).
To comply with Jackson County Health Department guidelines, amenities may be modified to follow social distancing standards.
Playgrounds will remain closed as required by the Jackson County Health Department along with the splash pad at Burrus Old Mill Park. It is anticipated that sometime around July 1, Jackson County will move into Phase 3, which will allow the opening of playgrounds and the splash pad.
Please refrain from using facilities that are closed and follow all posted regulations so our facilities may open to the public as quickly as possible. Additionally, anyone who is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 please refrain from using these amenities.
Blue Springs Parks and Recreation continues to develop plans for the safe reopening of additional amenities, programs and service while following the guidelines set forth by Jackson County Health Department Recovery Plan.
