BLUE SPRINGS, MO. – The Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Department is excited to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated Burrus Old Mill Park on from 4-6 p.m. on June 12. The renovations include the City’s first splashpad and a new jungle-themed playground, new shelters, a basketball court, skate park as well as parking and trail improvements. During the celebration, the new playground/splash pad will be open for use. We invite the public to attend and be the first to use these fantastic new amenities. Free food, drinks and giveaways (while supplies last) will be provided.
Blue Springs Parks and Recreation is excited to provide the community with the first splash pad/playground in our park system. The splash pad/playground is free to the public and is an unsupervised area. We realize many people will want to use this amenity. Groups of 15 or more will be required to have a valid shelter reservation. Groups of 15 or more without a shelter reservation will be asked to leave the park and make a future reservation to use the facility.
If you are interested in shelter reservations, we will begin taking reservations on June 3 for reservations beginning on June 22 and thereafter. There will be no scheduled shelter reservations before June 22. Contact Blue Springs Parks and Recreation for shelter rental rates and availability at (816) 228-0137 or visit the Blue Springs Fieldhouse.
The renovations to the skate park have been completed. However, the facility needs to cure before individuals use it. Damage may occur that compromises the integrity of the concrete long term. We ask that skaters do not use the facility until June 21.
While we know everyone is excited to see and use these new amenities, we ask the public to keep out of the park until June 12, as it is an active construction site and is dangerous.
