[ARCHIVED] Blue Springs Battles for Blood and Bragging Rights with May 7 Community Blood Drive

BLUE SPRINGS, MO. –  The City of Blue Springs is teaming up with Central Jackson County Fire Protection District, the Blue Springs Police Department and the Community Blood Center against the cities of Lee’s Summit and Independence to encourage residents to donate blood. Each city will host their own community blood drive for a friendly competition.Battle for Blood: Team Blue Springs

The “Team Blue Springs” Blood Drive will be from noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7 at the Howard L. Brown Public Safety Building, 1100 SW Smith Street in the Journagan Family Community Room.

“We heard Lee’s Summit and Independence think they can get more residents to donate blood than Blue Springs can. But we think that’s just plain silly,” said Blue Springs Police Chief Bob Muenz. “So, we’re teaming up with our partners in public safety, CJC Fire, to join this Battle for Blood and show our neighbors just how amazing and giving this community can be.”

“Of course, the real winners of this little competition between our cities will be those whose lives are saved by a blood donation. So be a hero, and sign-up to donate today,” said Jeff Grote, CJCFPD Fire Chief.

All blood donations will be used to supply local hospitals, including those in Blue Springs, to help save lives.

To participate, you can sign up in advance at www.savealifenow.org, Group Code: KCJY or show up on May 7 for a walk-in slot.
