[ARCHIVED] City Hall Re-Opens After Year-Long Renovation

BLUE SPRINGS, MO. – After an almost year-long renovation, Blue Springs City Hall, 903 W. Main, will re-open to the public on Monday, April 8, 2019.

Along with making City Hall and City services accessible to all citizens by bringing the building into compliance with the American's with Disabilities Act, the renovations bring a new-customer focused design to City Hall.

The construction included a new section connecting both City buildings previously on the property. A new main entrance on 10thstreet allows citizens to enter the new lobby with all customer-facing departments – such as Codes, Permits and Utility Billing – located in one easily accessible area. This gives customers the ability to complete almost all City business needed without leaving the lobby. Additionally, the new design allows for meeting spaces, training areas and more to better accommodate the space needs of City Hall services and staff.

“I am thrilled to showcase to our citizens of Blue Springs the new and improved City Hall,” said Mayor Carson Ross. “This renovation brings our City into the 21stcentury and gives all our citizens easy access to city services and functions.”

City Hall was originally constructed in 1961 and last remodeled in 1989. The City and the services provided have changed significantly since that time. The City Hall Campus Renovation Project was identified in the 2016-17 to 2020-21 Capital Improvement Program (CIP), which outlines the City’s “Priority and Strategic Areas” for long-term maintenance, equipment replacement, and capital investment needs.

Administration, Utility Billing, Codes, Development, Public Works Engineering, Human Resources, Finance and Information Technology will all be housed in the 903 W. Main Building. Parks and Recreation offices are at the Fieldhouse, 425 NE Mock Ave. Public Works Operations is at 500 SE Sunnyside School Road. The Police Department, Municipal Court offices and City Council Chambers remain in the Public Safety Building, 1100 SW Smith Street.

The payment drop box for Utility Billing has been relocated to the north wall of City Hall near the employee entrance.

City Hall hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
