[ARCHIVED] Mayor Carson Ross appoints City Prosecuting Attorney

Tracey Chappell-Vick copyBLUE SPRINGS, MO. – Mayor Carson Ross has announced the appointment of Tracey Chappell-Vick as the City’s Prosecuting Attorney.

“After a thorough selection process, I am pleased to announce that Tracey emerged as the top candidate,” said Mayor Carson Ross. “Tracey has more than 20 years of experience in the legal field and I am confident that she will do a great job representing the City of Blue Springs.”

“I am excited that I get the historic opportunity to appoint the first female to this important City position, and to also further the diversity of our organization,” Ross added.

Chappell-Vick has managed her own law firm as a practitioner in criminal and civil law where she has substantial experience in municipal courts throughout the area. Previously, she worked in the Jackson County Counselor’s Office as the Senior Assistant County Counselor. Additionally, Chappell-Vick spent time as legal counsel for Allstate Insurance Company and as a legal practitioner in other private firms. She also spent time working with Legal Aide to help those with less resources and access navigate the judicial system.

“This is an incredible opportunity to serve the City of Blue Springs,” Chappell-Vick said. “As City Prosecutor, I look forward to administering a fair system of justice and ensuring all individuals who enter the court system are treated respectfully and fairly.”

The position of Prosecuting Attorney is a Mayoral appointment. The contract for employment is scheduled to go before the City Council at the Dec. 3, meeting and upon approval, Chappell-Vick will officially begin duties as Prosecuting Attorney on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
