Blue Springs Police Department names Stacey Edwards as Deputy Chief

Stacey Edwards Deputy ChiefThe City of Blue Springs Police Department is pleased to announce Captain Stacey Edwards has been named Deputy Chief of Police effective October 1.

Edwards is a 25-year veteran of the Blue Springs Police Department and currently serves as Operations Bureau Captain.

“I felt it was important for the department and the community that this position be filled internally, and I am confident that Captain Edwards will do well in this role,” said Police Chief Bob Muenz. “Captain Edwards is a long-time employee of the Blue Springs Police Department and takes an active role in our community.”

Over the last 25 years, Edwards has served the Department in several capacities, fulfilling the roles of patrol officer, school resource officer, field training officer, emergency vehicle operations course instructor, firearms instructor, detective with the Jackson County Drug Task Force, Professional Standards detective, patrol sergeant and patrol commander.

“I am humbled and honored to be selected as the next Deputy Chief for the Blue Springs Police Department,” Edwards said. “I am starting my 25th year with the Department and it is a real pleasure to serve with some of the very best men and women in law enforcement.

“I am a firm believer in the community policing approach and I know that a strong partnership between the community and the police department will allow for our mutual success,” Edwards added.

He is a 2016 graduate of the Missouri Police Chief’s Command College and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Park University. The internal promotion will go into effect October 1.
