[ARCHIVED] Badge Pinning Ceremony for Blue Springs Police Chief Bob Muenz

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The City of Blue Springs will host a Badge Pinning Ceremony for Chief Bob Muenz on Monday, October 2 immediately after the City Council meeting beginning at 6 p.m. in the Howard L. Brown Building located at 1100 SW Smith Street, Blue Springs, Mo.

In April 2017, Eric Johnson named Deputy Chief Bob Muenz as the new Chief of Police effective October 1, 2017. Muenz will succeed Chief Wayne McCoy who is retiring after serving the Blue Springs community for over 15 years as Chief of Police.

“I am honored to accept this opportunity to serve Blue Springs,” said Deputy Chief Bob Muenz. “As an 18-year member of the Blue Springs community, I have developed invaluable relationships with fellow officers, residents and community members that I hope to build on in this new role.”

Deputy Chief Muenz has been with the Blue Springs Police Department since November of 2012 and brings over 24 years of experience to the position.  Prior to accepting this position, Muenz served as Chief of Police in Oak Grove for 10 years after starting with that department as a supervisor in 1999.  He began his career in 1992 in Warrenton Missouri, and is a recent graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 266.   He and his wife Suzie have two children and have lived in the Blue Springs area since 1999.    

The Blue Springs Police Department has 100 sworn officers and 41 civilian employees who work to provide the highest quality of police services to the Blue Springs community by promoting a safe environment through police and citizen interaction, with emphasis on integrity, fairness and professionalism.
