Library Presents Small Business Bootcamp in Blue Springs
MCPL, City of Blue Springs, and Chamber of Commerce Offer Free Workshop
Blue Springs, MO – Mid-Continent Public Library’s Square One Small Business Services, in partnership with the City of Blue Springs and the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to present its Small Business Bootcamp on Friday, May 19 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the CJC Fire Protection District Training Center (4715 US Hwy 40, Blue Springs, MO 64015).
“We’re very excited to offer another Small Business Bootcamp for aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners,” said Amy Fisher, who leads MCPL’s Square One Small Business Services team. “At Square One, our mission is to fuel the local economy by supporting members of the small business community in their endeavors. Programs like our business bootcamps not only provide valuable, hands-on education by esteemed professionals, they also serve as a platform for making new connections that could help propel a business toward its goals.”
The morning workshop will kick off with a keynote speech at 9 a.m. by Gene DeClue, owner of Rock & Run Brewery, followed by breakout sessions on a variety of business-related topics including:
- Telling Your Business Story with Santina Cessor, Owner of Threads Studio
- Social Media for Small Businesses with Sarah Mote, Marketing Director at KCSourceLink
- Top 5 Reasons Businesses Fail with Terri S. Turner, Founder of TST Business Strategies, and Bob Martin, Managing Partner at Martin Marketing
- How to Keep Your Volunteers with Brent Lager, Founder/President of The Call Kansas City
- From Employee to Entrepreneur with Stephanie Zamora, CEO and Conductor at Assurance Security
- How Do I Know When It’s Time to Grow My Business? with Tammy Ogren, Ph.D., Partner at MORF Consulting and owner of Spicy Guys Pretzels
“There is a natural partnership between the City of Blue Springs, Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce, and the Mid-Continent Public Library system as we are all committed to innovation, entrepreneurship, and fostering a strong business community,” said Blue Springs Mayor Carson Ross. “We are excited to host this event in our community, and I encourage all local business owners to sign up early and take advantage of this excellent training opportunity.”
The Bootcamp will also include opportunities for attendees to network with each other, as well as local resource organizations that aid small businesses, over complimentary coffee and snacks. This program is free but registration is required at mymcpl.org/SquareOne.
