[ARCHIVED] City Public Works Week Celebration on Thursday, May 18

Blue Springs, Mo. – The Blue Springs Public Works Department will kick-off its fourth annual Public Works Week celebration on Thursday, May 18 from 5-8 p.m. at the Public Works facility located on 500 S.E. Sunnyside School Road.

“I look forward to this opportunity to give residents a look into the overall operations of the Blue Springs Public Works department,” said Public Works Director Chris Sandie. “It’s a chance for residents to see the intense nature of our work but it’s also a celebration and a way for us to say thank you for their continued support.”

For the past 57 years, Public Works Week has been celebrated annually in the United States and Canada as a way to highlight the contributions of Public Works employees and their efforts to maintain and improve the quality of living in their communities. Thousands of municipalities participate and past events have included letters of acknowledgement from former U.S. presidents and proclamations from city and state officials.

The Blue Springs event will feature displays, face painting, games, free food, equipment demonstration and prize drawings.
