[ARCHIVED] City Council Election Filing for April 4, 2017 Election

Blue Springs, Mo. – The City of Blue Springs will hold an election on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, for the purpose of electing the following:

  • Councilman – District 1 – three-year term
  • Councilman – District 2 – three-year term
  • Councilman – District 3 – three-year term

Declaration of Candidacy Forms and instructions for filing procedures are available from the Office of the City Clerk beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at City Hall, 903 W Main Street.

Candidates must file during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, and ending at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 with the Office of the City Clerk.

A random number drawing process will be used to determine the placement of candidate names on the April 4, 2017 ballot. On December 13, 2016, the first day of filing, candidates shall report to the Clerk’s office, submit their required filing documents, and draw a number. At the close of the first day of filing, candidates who have filed for office that day shall have their name listed in ascending order of the numbers drawn. That is, the candidate who draws the lowest number will have their name appear first on the ballot, the second lowest will be second and so on. On the second day and through the last day of election filing on January 17, 2017, the names of candidates shall be added in the order received.

Candidates having filed and desiring to withdraw their candidacy must appear in person before the City Clerk on or before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, and execute and deliver to the City Clerk a proper withdrawal of such candidacy.
