BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Blue Springs Police Department, Blue Springs School District Department of Public Safety and the Blue Springs Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association will participate in Target’s Heroes & Helper’s Event at 7 a.m. on Saturday, December 12. The Blue Springs Target Store located at 1040 NE Coronado, will host children from the “Shop with a Blue Springs Cop” program as they purchase holiday gifts for their families.
Blue Springs Police Department and Blue Springs School District Department of Public Safety officers will volunteer their time by spending it with 29 students from Blue Springs School District. This program allows disadvantaged children to shop with an officer and purchase $150 worth of holiday gifts for their families.
The “Shop with a Blue Springs Cop” program is an opportunity for children to socialize with officers in a positive atmosphere and reinforce the fact that police officers are friends in the community.
“This is the sixth year that we have been able to do this event and we are amazed by the community support for the program here in Blue Springs. These types of events help build relationships between area kids and police officers,” said Detective David Brotherton of the Blue Springs Police Department. “It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to help make sure these children and their families have a great Christmas this year.”
Following the shopping event, participants will join officers at the Adams Dairy Pointe Conference Center for a gift wrapping session and lunch with the officers.
This year’s event is sponsored by: Target, Rancho Grande Cantina, Cosentino’s Price Chopper South, Blue Springs R-IV School District, Missouri Mavericks, Blue Springs Landlord Group, Autumn Place Apartment, Blue Springs Police Spouses Association, Blue Springs Sonic Drive-In, Blue Springs Chick-fil-A, Lamar’s Donuts, Grain Valley Custom Muffler, Adams Point Conference Center, FOP Lodge 50 9 Round Kickbox Fitness, Golden Eggroll, Papa Murphy’s Indulgence Salon & Spa, The Cake Pan, Amber Robinette, Andy Wycoff, Bev Anderson, Kim McCrea, Blue Springs Marine, Kathi Knowles, Cheetie Raymond, Cindy Shade, Katrina McCann, Jennifer Splittorff, Texas Roadhouse, Roses & Such, Dave Myers, Dr. Matthew Turner, Salon Bellezzio, Marksman Firearms, Shooter’s Mart, Cirilla’s, Ross Miller Cleaners, Goodyear, Tony’s Italiano, Indulgence Salon & Spa, Trinity Wellness, Clancy’s Bar & Grill, Bike Stop, Christina Vaughn, Anda Offenbacker, Julie Lux, Kathy Knowles, Everett & Linda Jewett, Emmalee Keck, Barbara Stark, Morgan Goodman, Rachel Grist, Bev Anderson, Jadalyn Kotake, Kansas City Royals, Cavanagh Pet Hospital, Genevieve’s Home & Handmade, Cheetie Raymond, Cristin Walters, Salon Adiktid, D.O.G.
