[ARCHIVED] Cpl. Michael E. Webster Memorial Blood Drive on Thursday, October 2

Blue Springs, Mo. – The City of Blue Springs is teaming up with Central Jackson County Fire Protection District (CJCFPD) to be a host site during the state-wide Cpl. Michael E. Webster memorial blood drive on Thursday, October 2. The blood drive will be held at the CJCFPD Training Center, 4715 SW Cpl M E Webster Memorial Pkwy, Blue Springs, Mo., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To make an appointment, call (816) 229-9118 or visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code CJCFPD.

On October 2, 1993, Cpl. Michael E. Webster was killed by a drunk driver while making a routine traffic stop. Central Jackson County EMS responded to the initial 9-1-1 call for medical assistance. As a result of his injuries, Webster received over 40 units of blood before succumbing to his injuries.

“In 1995 I was honored to be able to help rename a 10-mile stretch of Highway 40 in Cpl. Webster’s honor,” said Mayor Carson Ross. “Cpl. Webster paid the ultimate price serving the Blue Springs community and I encourage everyone to donate on Thursday in his honor.”

As a Missouri State Highway Patrolman, Webster knew first-hand the importance of blood donations and he donated blood regularly. Each year, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A hosts a blood drive in his honor.
