Blue Springs, Mo. – The City of Blue Springs is currently in the process of purchasing the America’s Community Bank’s satellite parking lot located on the east side of Smith & 11th Street. The city and America’s Community Bank have reached an agreement and hope to close on the property in 60-90 days. The parking lot has 34 spaces and will increase the number of available free downtown public parking stalls to over 220 spaces.
“I’m proud to announce that the City is pursuing the purchase of a new public parking lot in downtown Blue Springs,” said Mayor Carson Ross. “Parking availability has been a major concern for downtown businesses and the Downtown Alive! revitalization group. I want to personally thank Wes Condron and America’s Community Bank for helping us develop a long-term solution to our downtown parking needs.”
“The City plans to combine the newly acquired parking lot with the adjacent municipal parking lot to create a new, expanded public parking lot with over 90 spaces,” said City Administrator Eric Johnson. “The new public parking lot will be landscaped and incorporate architectural and engineering design elements to serve as an attractive and highly functioning addition to the downtown corridor; serving local businesses, municipal needs and special events.”
Construction on the expanded public parking lot will coincide with renovations to the Howard L. Brown Public Safety Campus expected to begin this fall.
