NOTICE OF ELECTION FILING

Notice is hereby given that an election will be held in the City of Blue Springs, Jackson County, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 for the purpose of electing the following:

Councilmember – District 1 – three-year term

Councilmember – District 2 – three-year term

Councilmember – District 3 – three-year term

Declaration of Candidacy Forms and instructions for filing procedures are available for pickup beginning Monday, November 29, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. in the office of the City Clerk, Blue Springs City Hall, 903 W. Main Street, Blue Springs, Missouri.

Candidates may file for such office during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays) starting at 8:00 a.m., TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2021, and ending at 5:00 p.m., TUESDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2021, in the office of the City Clerk, Blue Springs City Hall, 903 W. Main Street, Blue Springs, Missouri.

A random number drawing process will be used to determine the placement of candidate names on the April 5, 2022 ballot. On December 7, 2021, the first day of filing, candidates shall report to the Clerk’s office, submit their required filing documents, and draw a number.  At the close of the first day of filing (5:00 p.m., December 7, 2021), candidates who have filed for office that day shall have their name listed in ascending order of the numbers drawn.  That is, the candidate who draws the lowest number will have his/her name appear first on the ballot, the second lowest will be second and so on. On the second day and through the last day of election filing on December 28, 2021, the names of candidates shall be added in the order received.

Candidates having filed and desiring to withdraw such candidacy shall appear in person before the City Clerk on or before 5:00 p.m., TUESDAY, JANUARY 18, 2022, and execute and deliver to the City Clerk a proper withdrawal of such candidacy.
