2019 City Press Releases - Annual City fireworks celebration postponed for 2019
Brief Description -
Due to the ongoing construction at the Blue Springs School District, the annual Red, White and Blue Springs Independence Day celebration has been canceled for 2019.
“This was a tough decision,” said Mayor Carson Ross. “This annual family event is loved by many in the community. However, with the ongoing construction at both Blue Springs and Blue Springs South High Schools, there was simply not a feasible venue to safely host the Red, White and Blue Springs Fireworks celebration.”
In lieu of the community fireworks event, the City wants to remind residents to be good neighbors when celebrating Independence Day with fireworks this year.
Fireworks are legally allowed to be discharged within Blue Springs City limits July 1-3, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on July 4, 2019 from 10 a.m. to Midnight. Police Officers will exercise increased street patrol and law enforcement measures during these times to make sure residents are complying with the regulations provisioned by the City’s Fireworks Ordinance. To report fireworks violations, call (816) 228-0151 or Text-A-Tip; text BSPD plus your message, including the location of the violation to Crimes (274637). In addition, please use City-approved fireworks only. These fireworks include those sold by the 18 licensed nonprofit organizations in Blue Springs only. The discharge of bottle rockets and aerial luminaries are prohibited by the City.
The City plans to continue to host the Red, White and Blue Springs event in 2020.
