Economic Development Council
OverviewThe Economic Development Council works to retain, support, and collaborate with existing businesses while also recruiting new businesses that are inline with the city’s long-term strategic plan.
Established by Ordinance 4615.
MembersThe Economic Development Council has a total of 16 members. The City appoints 12 of the 16 members. Four of the membership seats are standing positions: One appointed by Central Jackson County Fire Protection District. One appointed by Blue Springs School District. One appointed by Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce. One appointed by Downtown Alive!. One Council member will be assigned annually to serve as a non-voting liaison.
Those members first appointed by the Mayor shall be appointed for the following terms: Four for one year; Four for two years; and Four for three years. Subsequent appointments shall be for terms of three years. Members appointed by other entities shall serve four year terms.
MeetingsMeetings are held at 8 a.m. on the third Wednesday of even numbered months in the Journagan Room in the Howard L. Brown Public Safety Building, 1100 SW Smith St.
