The Blue Springs Public Works department maintains a 24-hour state of readiness from mid-November to mid-April for inclement weather. The personnel who work within the Streets Division become first responders for snow emergencies.

The most heavily traveled roads are assigned as 1st priority streets. These roads are the main thoroughfares through the city and the major roads in and out of subdivisions.
